Designed to celebrate neurodiversity and the power of nature to nurture mental well-being, our garden invites visitors to experience a world where difference is not just accepted but celebrated. We are proud to share this inspiring space with you!
The ADHD Foundation Garden has been thoughtfully designed as a calm yet subtly stimulating space, reflecting the lived experience of those with ADHD and other forms of neurodiversity. Inspired by the idea that just as no two plants grow alike, no two minds think alike, the garden celebrates human difference through a rich tapestry of botanical diversity, texture, form, and sensory engagement.
At the centre of the garden, a serene reflection pool offers a moment of stillness, surrounded by richly layered planting that encourages exploration and sensory connection. The garden will include umbrella figures (designed by David Begbie) and umbellifers to represent The ADHD Foundation’s iconic Neurodiversity Umbrella Project. Sculptural topiary forms add structure and playfulness, while a diverse planting palette supports biodiversity as a living metaphor for the variety and resilience found in neurodivergent minds. Every element of the garden invites visitors to pause, explore, and celebrate the beauty of thinking differently.

Katy Terry, the designer behind the ADHD Foundation Garden, brings a personal perspective to her debut at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show.
“My personal neurodiverse journey has just begun,” says Katy. “It’s been fascinating to discover the aspects of my character that have led me to experience the world through a different lens. Plants and garden design have been my passion for the last twenty years, and my ‘All About Plants’ garden for the ADHD Foundation blends my horticultural and artistic strengths.”
Katy hopes that her garden will offer a sense of calm and relief to neurodiverse visitors, providing a space where they can feel connected, understood, and celebrated. Through her design, she invites all visitors to “think differently about thinking differently” — recognising the splendid complexity of human beings, just as we celebrate the individuality of every tree and plant in the natural world.
“Variation among living organisms is the key to our strength and survival. Our garden reflects the diversity of both plants and people, encouraging the public to embrace difference as something vital and beautiful. This wonderful opportunity, awarded to us by Project Giving Back, has allowed us to showcase a garden that celebrates diversity- both botanical and human. Just as plants adapt and thrive through evolutionary variety, so too do human beings flourish through neurological and genetic diversity. It is our differences that enable us to grow, connect and thrive.”
– Dr Lindsey Roberts, Acting CEO, The ADHD Foundation.

Relocation to the University of Liverpool
Following its debut at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2025, The ADHD Foundation Garden
will embark on a meaningful new chapter as it is permanently relocated to the University of
Liverpool’s Ness Botanic Gardens. This beautiful and biodiverse space will be preserved and
reimagined to serve as a lasting sanctuary of inclusivity, reflection, and wellbeing.
A Lasting Legacy for Neurodiverse Communities
The relocated garden will provide a calming, therapeutic outdoor environment for the
University’s neurodiverse students and staff—offering a much-needed escape from the
demands of daily life. Enriched with thoughtfully selected planting, natural materials, and
tranquil design features, the garden will continue to reflect and celebrate the strength
found in neurodiversity.
Championing Neurodiversity at the University
