What is psychotherapy?
People may choose to get support for problems they face in their life. The emotional challenges that arise from difficult experiences, may cause significant barriers for a person to live the life they want or prevent them achieving what they want. Difficult or traumatic experiences in the past can lead to a person struggling with anxiety, depression and loss. Being able to speak about these difficulties with a trained professional Psychotherapist can allow a person to understand and process these in a way that they will have less negative impact on their emotions and behaviour.
Our practitioners will provide a safe space that is non-judgmental, non-oppressive and unconditionally accepting of your experience. Empathy and authenticity are fundamental to the therapist’s way of being when working with clients, but they are also experienced to find a way that suits you, the client.
Psychotherapy is the term that describes a number of different talking therapies. This includes Counselling and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. At the ADHD Foundation we have therapists who are trained in many different approaches, as an Integrative approach is practiced to meet the individual needs of people with neuro-developmental conditions.
Neurodiverse Psychotherapy is delivered with an understanding that having a neuro-developmental condition can impact the way you may engage with the therapy itself. It also understands that people with such conditions as ADHD or ASC are more likely to suffer from mental health problems. We are committed to finding the best approach to meet your needs.
